This academic article explained how music and empathy lead to cultural understanding in great detail and provided good references that could be looked into as well. It provided background about what empathy is and how people can experience empathy through different ways to help them to understand or appreciate someone else and what they are feeling. Informs about how music can evoke empathy in its audience and connect people. Helped the reader gain a better understanding of how music helps with cultural understanding through empathy instead of just liking the music from other cultures simply because of the way it sounds

This article provides an interview between the members of BTS and Time Magazine. It talks about how BTS is the biggest boyband right now and how they are as big as other famous groups like The Beatles and One Direction. The article discusses how BTS is a Korean boy band that was able to become extreme very popular all across the globe and break records without leaving their roots or appealing to Western cultures. In addition to mentioning of their very large and globalized fanbase.

This article discusses how the music streaming service, Spotify, is helping with connecting different cultures through music by advertising and recommending music from other cultures. Spotify is trying to “increase intercontinental musical exchange” by showing its users the tops songs globally in other countries and not just in the west.

This article discusses how music and empathy intertwine with one another. It goes in depth describing a recent research study and how researchers have discovered that those with higher levels of empathy process music a little better than those with lower empathy, in addition to, processing social information better. This can be used when I discuss how music can connect and/or cause empathetic reactions.

This article was useful when explaining how music can connect different cultures from the perspective of a fan because this article discusses how fans globally enjoy music from different cultures even though they cannot speak the language. This article explains how music from groups like BTS can connect with fans of different cultures and how language isn’t necessary to enjoy or understand music. It also explains how many fans learned about different cultures as a result of initially just being interested in music from other cultures. This article provided a lot of different perspectives and opinions from fans.
